Description

This bag is made from handwoven kente fabrics woven in the Ashanti Region and the Volta Region of Ghana, a wooden handle with leather on the sides.

Kente fabric is made from silk and cotton fabric. The fabric is hand woven by mainly the Akans and Ewes in Ghana. This fabric is worn by almost every Ghanaian tribe. Kente comes from the word kenten, which means basket in the Asante dialect of Akan. Akans refer to kente as nwentoma, meaning woven cloth. It is a royal and sacred cloth worn only in times of extreme importance and was the cloth of kings. Over time, the use of kente became more widespread. Korkor kente range is a large bag that can be used as an everyday bag or for that special occasion and can add a unique touch to any outfit.

The base of the bag is about 15 inches in length with a width of 6 inches and a height of 10 inches from the base to the handle. The leather used for this bag is leather scraps mainly off cut leather from bag making factories in Europe which has been upcycled or otherwise reused to make this beautiful piece.
